The State Level Seminar on “Palliative Care” was successfully conducted by S. Thangapazham College of Nursing on 07/05/2026 from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. under the guidance and approval of the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council. The seminar was awarded 7 Credit Hours by TNNMC. The programme was organized with the objective of enriching the knowledge and clinical competencies of nursing professionals and students in the field of palliative care.
The programme commenced with registration of delegates followed by the Pre-Test Questionnaire Session, conducted to assess the participants’ baseline knowledge regarding palliative care.
The Inaugural Session was graced by Dr. Sudarmani, Master of Ophthalmology, Government PHC Hospital, as the Chief Guest. The seminar was successfully organized under the guidance and support of the Honorable Chairman, Mr. S.T. Murugesan, and Director Mr. M. Subramaniyan of ST Group of Institutions The special guests included Dr. Ratna Prakash ,principal ST Medical college and over all ST Academic coordinator Mr.Suresh .
The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Leelavathy, Principal of S. Thangapazham College of Nursing. In her address, she warmly welcomed all dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, and delegates. She emphasized the importance of palliative care in improving the quality of life of patients and highlighted the essential role of nurses in providing compassionate and holistic healthcare services.
The scientific sessions were delivered by seven eminent resource persons from various reputed nursing and healthcare institutions. The speakers presented different topics related to palliative care, including pain management, psychological support, communication skills, end-of-life care, ethical issues, family counselling, and holistic nursing interventions. The sessions were highly informative, interactive, and beneficial to all participants.
The delegates actively participated throughout the seminar and gained valuable knowledge and practical insights from the expert sessions. The seminar served as an effective academic platform for updating professional knowledge and enhancing clinical competency in palliative care nursing.
The management of S. Thangapazham College of Nursing made excellent arrangements for all participants. A well-organized conference kit containing seminar materials was provided to all delegates. The management also arranged refreshments, snacks, and a special lunch for all participants, which was highly appreciated by the attendees for its quality and hospitality.
After completion of all scientific sessions, a Post-Test Questionnaire was conducted to evaluate the learning outcomes of the participants. Feedback forms were also collected from all delegates regarding the organization and usefulness of the seminar programme. The feedback received from participants was highly positive and encouraging.
The Valedictory Session was conducted in the evening in the presence of dignitaries Director ST Group of institution Mr.M.Subramaniyan and Dr. Subramaniyan ,founder of mahalakshmi hospital, puliyankdi distributed certificates to all delegates and appreciated the organizing committee for the successful conduct of the seminar.seminar report rendered by Dr.sathyapriya,vice principal ,STCON and delivered vote of theanks by Mr.Praveen kumar ,Nursing Tutor,StCON.
Nearly 130 participants, including nursing students, faculty members, and healthcare professionals from various institutions, actively participated in the seminar. The programme concluded successfully with great appreciation from all attendees for its academic excellence, systematic organization, and warm hospitality.
